Dog Training Staff Profiles

Todd Thurber - Milwaukee Dog TrainerLynette Meissner

I began my dog training career in 2001. My husband Joel and I adopted a hyper-active 5 month old lab mix whom we named Maggie. After quitting our first obedience class out of frustration, we knew a decision had to be made. We could either train our dog or return her. We went for round two at a local dog training facility. After losing my negative “can’t do” attitude; I realized I had quite a knack for training. We took Maggie through CGC and I became an assistant trainer. Shortly after that, I began teaching puppy classes, basic obedience classes and doing in-home training.

My husband and I now live in harmony with four dogs and three cats. I am currently a trainer at Come, Sit, Stay and Play dog day care center. I also provide in-home training in the Waukesha area.

Todd Thurber - Milwaukee Dog TrainerSara Jaap

Sara Jaap’s love for dogs started when she was a little girl. Her father was a passionate duck hunter, thus the family dog was always a fully trained Labrador Retriever. Along the way to being a trainer she has spent time volunteering at the Wisconsin Humane Society were she would assist with exercising dogs. Her real interest and desire to train dogs occurred after adopting a very challenging puppy. After completing training classes she became an assistant for Todd and continued with advanced training. Eventually she began teaching her own classes and started working at Come, Sit Stay and Play. She currently owns 2 dogs; a yellow lab mix named Baxter and a black Labrador Retriever named Joey. She believes that training can establish a strong bond between the dog and owner. She enjoys helping people through this process and believes that having a well trained dog makes life more enjoyable for the owner and the dog.
